Basenji, the African Barkless Dog
Just to introduce ourselves, we are Aaron & Rose Thomson of Lasalle,Ontario, Canada. We have been Basenji owners since 1989 when we bought our first Basenji (Ch. Mankia's Simba Wa Bara Hindi) from Lynn and Dennis Arrand of Windsor as a pet and then finishing his Canadian Championship ( with Lynn and Dennis's guidance, patience and still continuing support), we were totally hooked. We are now very active in both showing and breeding. We are members of The Basenji Club of Canada, The Basenji Club of America and the Ibizan Hound Club of Canada (we also have two Ibizans). Through this website, we hope to show off some of our "kids" and give more insight into this very different breed of dog.
The purchase of our second Basenji, Ch Klassic's Klass Act was the beginning of a very special association with Sue and Mike Kite (Klassic Basenjis) of Ohio. For the past 7 years, we have co-owned a wonderful brindle female, Ch Klassic's Lucky Lady Premier (Am/Cdn Ch Klassic's Eye of the Tiger x Am/Cdn Ch Sequoia's Klassic Britannia) Her offspring are doing quite well at this juncture, Buddha is now an American/Canadian Champion, Tpango is an American Champion and made us very proud by placing Best of Opposite Sex at the 1998 Westminster Kennel Club show, handled by her young owner, Donna Trouten and an Award of Merit at the 1998 Basenji Club of Canada National Specialty.
We can't forget "Taz" (Premier's Troubled Taz) who is now also an Am/Cdn Champion (Am/Cdn Ch Premier's Trouble's Baruh'n x My Lady Blaze). Cdn Ch Premier's Keisha Morowa, was finished by owner/handlers Don & Brenda Zeversenuke (after giving birth to her second litter!) We now own one of Keisha's daughters, Okon's Premier Starlet, who finished her Canadian championship in 1999 at 9 months old. There are several other Premier kids being shown or retired who have made us equally proud.
We have Basenjis in several US & Canadian locations and a Basenji residing in England. We are very proud of all of them and hope you will take the time to see them here in our website.
